Last Sunday at 5.30pm, our first actual session took place. I feel that the session was good, everyone showed their own uniquities which is exactly what we're looking for. We started out by playing some fun games, we had a laugh and people started to feel more an more comfortable as the session went on. We could have gone on for longer but it was obvious that people were getting hungry. In the future we're going to ask people to bring a bottle of water and a snack as to keep up the energy level.
It’s a brilliant feeling that so many people are interested in the project, It gives us new encouragement to keep the whole thing going. Unfortunately, we've had a few drop outs; I know that’s not unusual with this kind of work, however it's never fun to lose someone. Taking that into consideration, I have a sneaky suspicion that the people that came this Sunday are going to be the majority of our final bunch. This is good news as they are all wonderful.
We're also about to confirm our performance venue. Date and time are to be decided this week, very exciting news! I can't deny that we've been a bit nervous about this process. And... Our group sessions are up and running! Our first meeting happened this Wednesday. It was extremely short notice, so our group was small, but eager. We played some games, did some improv but it was mainly a taster session. We asked the group to give us a list of things they wanted to get out of their time with us. I feel this was a strong chance to learn the needs of the group. It's going to be fun, that's all I have to say... Interestingly we gained two new participants to our play! I think that means that our group is now full.
This upcoming week we'll be doing our press release, mocking a budget and applying for funding. It doesn't need to be much money but a small contribution would be welcome. It would be nice to have some money to invest in our tech, set and costumes. We hope to post more good news on that front in a few more weeks.
Wish us luck!
Kim :)
